There's been a definite nip in the air the past week, and the days are noticeably shorter now, so it won't be long before I start wearing socks again. I've managed to knit quite a new few pairs this year and I've been keeping them all in my sock drawer, ready to wear. I love sock knitting so decided to have four prizes of sock knitting kits this week. Each kit includes a drawstring project bag fully lined and with two pockets inside. The bags outers are made from Tilda fabrics and I think they're really pretty. I had a lot of fun sewing them. Inside the bag, there are 3 balls of commercial sock yarn and 3 skeins of indie-dyed yarn. Thank you to my friend Rosie who has donated the balls of On Line yarn, an anonymous donor for the two balls of Regia yarn and my best knitting pal Snoopydog who has donated the skeins of Laughing Yaffle yarn. The rest of the yarn has come from my stash. Also included are a pair of Knit Pro 2.5mm circular needles, a yarn sticker and a sweet Flo black kitty progress keeper that have been made for me by Sarah who makes all kinds of gorgeous stitch markers in her shop Fripperies & Bibelots. I have a fabulous prize for you again this week - well I think that all my prizes have been fabulous!! The prize includes a beautiful Melanie Berg shawl - Drachenfels - which has been knitted and donated by Elaine who is Yarn and Floss on Instagram. Another Instagram friend Ann - Busy Pottering - has donated a copy of the book Knitting with your Leftovers. This was actually a prize a few weeks ago but the person who won it was a crocheter rather than a knitter, so very kindly asked me to keep it to use as a prize in the future. There are two skeins of yarn donated by a new to me dyer - Rain of the Roses - and I think that they would make a beautiful shawl. My friend Gilly from Gilly Makes has donated 6 skeins of Rowanspun 4ply yarn and Tribe Yarns has donated a skein of alpaca yarn in a wonderful deep teal shade. It's amazing to see how much the puppies have grown and developed quite distinct little characters. They are 6 and a half weeks old now, so it's not too long before they will be off to their new homes. They all have names too which adds to their personalities. Let me introduce them to you ...

They are very friendly and affectionate and I'm sure that all of them will be much loved pets. Flo is relieved that one is not coming to live with me. I've become very fond of them, and quite surprised myself as I've never thought of myself as a dog person at all! I'm pretty sure that Flo would have the upper paw over any new additions to the family though! xxx 

Billy Bears

A friend of a friend is expecting very precious twin baby boys later this year so I offered to make some little gifts for her. Although I've crocheted a fair few blankets, my experience of toy making - aka amigurumi crochet - is pretty limited. My Stylecraft Blogstar friend Emma Varnam just happens to be a whizz at creating super cute crocheted toys, so I asked her for her recommendations and she suggested that I tried making Billy Bear. She very generously sent me a kit to make them from which was so lovely of her. It was nowhere near as difficult as I'd imagined it would be and I loved how there was so little sewing to be done - the legs get joined as you start the body and you crochet in the tail and arms as you go along too. This makes them nice and secure for little fingers. The only things I had to sew on were the ears and facial features. It's not advisable to use safety eyes for under threes so I stitched the eyes, nose and mouth on at the end. 

I also knitted two little hats to go with the bears using Stylecraft Bambino Prints yarn. I really like how it knits up with the stripes and speckles. The pattern is the Rialto Baby Beanie and it's a free Ravelry download. You can find it here. I've got another bumper prize for you this week! As my weekly raffles will come to an end in December, I've spent quite a bit of time putting together all the prizes I have left to make up the prizes for the rest of the year, so they are pretty amazing! This week's prize includes a hooking kit which has been donated by Mr and Mrs Rabbit Yarns. Perfect if you'd like to try a new craft. The packaging got a bit battered in the post, but the actual kit itself is fine.  After the thrill of hitting my target last week, I've put together another super prize bundle for you. We did it! On Sunday, my fundraising passed my target of £20,000! I can’t believe it! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated a prize, donated by buying virtual raffle tickets or just shared my fundraising raffles. I couldn’t have done it without you. I am planning to continue with the weekly raffles until the end of the year, as if you take a look at the photo below, I still have lots of wonderful prizes to give away.
