Introducing Miss Parminter

Stylecraft has just released a new range in their lovely Head over Heels yarn - it's called Boho and features a monochrome faux Fair Isle band nestled amongst all the beautiful bright stripes. I am a total sucker for stripy socks so I was delighted when I was asked to design a sock for the Boho yarn. I first caught sight of these gorgeous colours back last summer when the Blogstars were visiting Stylecraft HQ and it was really hard to pick which colourway to cast on first!

I started swatching some pattern ideas and very quickly settled on a ribbed lace design. All the colours are named after mountains, so I decided to keep with the mountain theme and name my sock after Miss Parminter, the first recorded woman climber, who in 1799 was climbing in the Alps. She must have been an incredible woman. The ribbing gives the sock a comfortable fit while the lace adds a delicate touch to the pattern. I'd like to think that these socks would have made her climb a little more comfortable in her boots and long skirt.

The purple colourway is Colorado and the pink is called Amazon. The pattern is available as a free pattern leaflet from Stylecraft stockists and I expect that you will be able to download it from the Stylecraft website very soon. I'll let you know when it's available.

I was very excited to see some of the photos that had been taken during the photo shoot. I still have to pinch myself that those are the socks that I knitted!

I've been given several copies of the pattern leaflet so what do you say to a little giveaway? You could win a Stylecraft canvas bag, a ball of Head over Heels Boho in the colourway Orinoco, a copy of the Miss Parminter pattern, some tags and a key ring. Everything you need (except the needles) to knit your very own pair of socks to conquer any mountain in your path!

All you have to do is leave me a comment and make sure that you tell me your Ravelry or Instagram name or some other way of getting in touch should you be the winner. I'll post the prize anywhere so please do enter. The giveaway will stay open until I get back from my next visit to Stylecraft on February 3rd, so there's plenty of time to enter. Good luck and thanks for entering. xxx
