Catch up time

Hello again. Hope all is well in your part of the world. I thought that I'd better blog today, as Mr Josiekitten and I are off to London for the weekend, and I won't get a chance on Sunday. We had a day trip to London last year, and enjoyed it so much, that we've decided to spend the whole weekend there this time! We have lots of things planned - museums, galleries, a trip to the theatre and maybe, you never know, the chance to do a little bit of yarn shopping! Mr JK (bless him) has already Googled yarn shops in London, and found me Loop, so who am I to disappoint him! I'm sure we can squeeze in a visit. I'll report back next time.
I haven't yet started my Ripple blanket, as I can't make up my mind how big I want it to be. So, because I was desperate to get rippling, I've begun a Ripple scarf, using some mini-skeins from the Natural Dye Studio. I don't think I've got enough, as crochet seems to eat up the yarn as compared with knitting, but I'm having fun! So, what's a few more mini-skeins between friends?!

I've just finished the second ball of yarn on my Silk Garden 10 stitch blanket, and have matched up the next ball of yarn. I am definitely going to have to learn how to knit backwards, as I can see it getting pretty cumbersome, having to keep turning the knitting back and forth.

And talking of Silk Garden blankies, well done to those of you who spotted Henrycat getting delusions of grandeur this week. I caught him perched on top of the laundry basket, asleep on top of my Silk Garden Lizzy cardigan!! He did look comfy!

He gave us a bit of a scare this week, and had an overnight stay at the vets, but I'm pleased to say that he is absolutely fine now, just one of his lives gone I think!

My stash of sock yarn has been enhanced by a visit to the Laughing Yaffle's website. Ali's yarns are absolutely beautiful. Vibrant colours just begging to be knitted. Go and take a look - I bet you won't be able to resist the temptation! I had to laugh, as my mate Snoopydog bought the exact same skein of yarn as me, on the left. (She had more self control than me tho', and managed to stop at one!)

Charlotte's birthday socks are coming along well, and they will be my project for the weekend. Nice and easy to pick up at odd moments. I've also been busy with my Valentine's swap, but it's a secret at the moment. I'll reveal all once my swappee has received her 'parcel of lurve'. See you next week!

I don't crochet but do understand that it devours yarn at quite a pace! Your scarf is looking gorgeous though. I've heard good things about Loop, enjoy your visit there and to the other bits in London though I'm sure the yarn shop has to be the highlight!

LOOOOOOOVE the blanket. I didn't know it was possible to knit backwards! Those t=yarns are so tempting. I did pop over and drop another one in my shopping basket.....but then sense prevailed and I pu it back on the shelf. Hope Henry is OK! Do let me know what happened. Have a fab weekend! Rosx

Your scarf is very pretty, much quicker and more manageable than a blanket so you were right to crack on. Have a great time in the big city and I hope Henry is OK, they can be a worry can't they.

Love the ripple scarf! It's amazing how quickly crochet eats up yarn though, I'm going through loads more than I ever have with knitting! Hope your wee cat is ok, and it was nothing too serious that was the matter. I'm constantly worrying about mine with the roads around here. Though at this time of year they're hardly outside at all! Looking forward to seeing what you do with that red yarn you bought, it's such a gorgeous colour!

Oooh I love your Ripple! I taught myself to knit backwards for my ten stitch blanket - it's dead easy, but not as easy to get your tension as even as a normal knit row. It's very useful for the corners though! I'm on ball number 4 I think - I just order a ball when I'm ready for the next one as this project is one that I pick up every so often then put down again for ages. It's fun watching the colour spiral though isn't it!

Hope you enjoy London - let us know what Loop is like - for us Northerners we can only dream of a yarn shop like that up here! (Surprising in a city as big as Manchester!)
