Tour de Fleece - Day 5

Day 5 saw me plying the two fibres that I spun yesterday. I ended up with around 40 metres of the black Shetland and 34 metres of the grey Shetland, so there ought to be enough for the Sheep Heid pattern.

Tour de Fleece 2012 - day 5 001

Here are the four fibres that I've spun so far - from top to bottom we have black Shetland, grey Shetland, brown Bluefaced Leicester and oatmeal Bluefaced Leicester. Tomorrow, I'll try to spin up the other two colours of Shetland wool. I'm excited to start knitting it. One of my knitting aims for the year was to do some colourwork. Colourwork in handspun will be extra special!!

I had a little play around with the silk and didn't get on very well. It's very slippy! I think I'm going to do a little research on the best technique for spinning it and perhaps try again at the weekend when I've got a little more time. xxx
