Wrapped in love

I was on the receiving end of yet more kindness this week. Unbeknown to me, some of my dear friends on Ravelry decided to make me a special blanket to show me just how much I was in their thoughts following Mr JK's death. Almost 50 wonderful people, mostly from the USA, but also from Canada, Australia, the UK and Europe, secretly knitted away on a variety of blocks in all my favourite colours, posting them to Hattie, who did an amazing job finishing the blanket off and putting it all together. Each block was knitted with love and good thoughts, sending me a knitted hug from each and every one of them. There were lots of tears as I unwrapped the blankets - yes, blankets, because they knitted Flo her very own one too! (Although she thinks the big one is hers too, naturally!) The blankets are absolutely beautiful and I will treasure them for ever. Whenever I'm feeling sad, I can wrap myself up in these wonderful glowing jewels and feel loved. Thank you to each and every one of you who took time to join in with this wonderful woolly hug. I have no more words so will leave you with photos, lots and lots of photos. xxx

That is just so beautiful. Since I came across your blog, I had formed the opinion that you were a lovely person. Seeing these blankets, I can see that so many other people have the same opinion. You should feel truly loved and supported by this.
Well done to the lovely people who made these blankets. This all goes to show how wonderful the yarn-y people in this world are!

Oh, Helen! It looks so good, and it's doing exactly the job we meant it to do! You and Flo were in our thoughts every second while we all worked on it. We only wished we coould have given you hugs in person. But, now, you can have a huge collective hug any time you want one! Take care. We love you! ❤

Gosh what a beautiful thing. It's so good to hear stories of caring and humanity in this awful year that has been 2016. But I have found that the yarny online community is a great one to be a part of. Also I have to say you have coped so well these last weeks to be blogging and instagramming and have gone back to work too. You totally deserve the love woven into that blanket xx

Wonderful photos! I was assigned to 2 "cream" squares, which seemed boring but WOW how all the squares came together into a beautiful whole, major effort from Hattie! Thank you for sharing the photos, and know that each stitch was made thinking of you.

This makes me think of the line from the movie, "It's A Wonderful Life," -

Remember, no man [woman] is a failure who has friends.

Merry Christmas to you and Flo!
