It's been a funny old weekend. It started off well and I went to Parkrun with a spring in my step. The sun shone and there was plenty of blue sky to lift my mood after all the greyness and freezing fog we've had recently.
I baked some biscuits too - Delia's gingernuts - Mr JK's favourites. The house was full of that lovely warm spicy aroma and it was hard not to scoff several when they came out of the oven!
I've had a vase of daffodils brightening up the kitchen this week. They are so cheerful and are from a local farm, so I don't feel bad about indulging myself. It's supporting a local business!
Yesterday afternoon I had a lovely time with Snoopydog, chatting and knitting. We were both rather remiss and didn't take any photos! Snoops is going great guns on her Opal Advent calendar socks and I can't wait to get back to mine. I have some secret knitting on the go right now which I'm very excited about, but means that I can't share it with you for now. Oh go on then, just a little peep!
Today I've been in a slump. I find the weekends pretty hard as I'm on my own a lot of the time. During the week, I put on my 'I'm ok' face when I go to work, and then reality kicks in at the weekend when I have more time on my hands to think. I start off with good intentions of achieving lots but seem to drift through the days feeling very sad and tearful. Thank goodness for Florence who is my constant companion, cuddling up to me at every opportunity.
Next weekend, I'm heading up to Stylecraft HQ for another Blogstars get together. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again and catching up. I think that all of us are going to be there (Angela and Zelna via Skype!) so that's rather exciting! I will report back next Sunday!
Don't forget, there's still a couple of days left to enter my giveaway. You could win this pretty haberdashery pouch and limited edition Flo stitch marker, just by leaving a comment here. Please do enter and I'll announce the winner on February 1st. xxx

Those gingernuts look delicious and I love the blanket on the back of your sofa. Flo looks as though butter wouldn't melt! xx
It would be strange if you were not still sad at times but on the whole you seem to be doing well and keeping busy. That is the secret I guess - to keep busy.
Your cookies, flowers, and knitting are lovely. You are doing and feeling everything you need to right now. Getting out with people is good. Keep doing what you are doing. Sending you a big hug across the Internet.
Hi,
I look forward to seeing your blog and share your sadness keeping busy seems to help in the quiet times and Flo and your crafts are so important.
Flowers especially spring flowers promise lighter nights and longer days I hope your spirits lift too.
Thinking of you and wishing you well.
Hugs to you. xx
Weekends are difficult. Have you tried listening to books? You can get lost in the book, knit at the same time, and snuggle with Flo.
Flo is such a sweetie! your flowers are very cheery - good for you for treating yourself! those gingernuts look yummy! hugs, torre
That space in your heart will take a long time to mend and you will always miss Mr JK particularly I imagine during the winter months with long evenings at home. Sending you and Flo lots of love and good thoughts as always. x
