In print

I received some very exciting post this week. As part of my role with the Stylecraft Blogstars, I was given the opportunity to design something for Crochet Now magazine and write a little bit about myself. I was a tad nervous as I am primarily a knitter, but decided to give it a go and used one of the newer Stylecraft yarns - Candy Swirl - to hook a cosy scarf. I did give a few sneaky peaks on Instagram, but nothing that gave the game away!

Anyway, I am thrilled to see the photos of my Cosy Cluster scarf design appearing on the back page. I don't often buy crochet magazines, but there are some really lovely patterns in this one (issue 20) if you're interested in hooky things.

I snapped a quick photo before I sent the scarves off to the magazine, and had to keep Flo well out of the way, knowing her penchant for all things yarny!

To celebrate the publication of my first ever pattern in a magazine, I'm having a little giveaway. I have one yarn cake of Stylecraft Candy Swirl yarn in the purple Sugar Plum colourway as seen above. You can make the smaller size scarf with it. If you'd like to be in with a chance of winning, leave me a comment on my blog and tell me what your favourite thing is to crochet. I'm going to be running this competition on Instagram and also on my Josiekitten page on Facebook, so you have three chances to enter. (You can enter in all three places if you like.) The giveaway will stay open until midnight on Sunday 15th October and then I'll pick a winner. Please make sure that it's easy for me to get in touch with you. I'm happy to post overseas, so anyone can enter! Good luck and may the crochet goddess smile on you! xxx

Edited to add - I am leaving this giveaway open until the end of October and there are two chances to win a yarn cake. Details on this blog post here

I primarily crochet detail into knitted items, but I do like to do the odd granny Square and as a lover of knitted toys, am desperate to try amigurumi!

It's Foxymitts on Ravelry

My son seems determined to have every possible vehicle type in crochet. I'm currently working on a red double decker bus for his Christmas present. It would be nice to crochet something for me...

Congratulations, Helen. That's quite an achievement to have one of your patterns published, and such a lovely one too. My favourite thing to crochet has got to be blankets, although my husband would say that we have more than enough now! I'm VeggieMummy on Ravelry too. xx

Congrats on begin published! My favorite thing to crochet is whatever I just started! Seriously though, I really enjoy creative hats for little kids. They're quick and satisfying! I'm slawson on Ravelry.

Congratulations, what a great accomplishment being in print. The scarves are lovely, just the thing now that winter is nearly upon us. I enjoy crocheting blankets but I do have Edward's Menagerie book waiting in the wings so I want to have a go at amigurumi at some point.

Blankets will always be my first love but once the house is full you have to diversify. My collection of shawls and scarves is growing nicely but I really want to crochet a garment next. I don't often buy magazines but will make an exception for this one, after all it is just about scarf time.

Congratulations ... I started off with crochet as it was easier to learn for a left handed girl with no left handed relations to teach me knitting. Over the years I have crocheted clothes, scarves, amigurumi toys, normal toys (I am currently crocheting a very large Hippo) shawls etc etc etc

I mostly crochet edgings, because like you, I'm mostly a knitter.

Wowsers!! Congratulations on being published, your scarf is lovely! I'm not much of a crocheter, I can do granny squares, but have never had much luck with rows that turn around and work back on themselves. Knitting is so much easier! I shall keep an eye out for this magazine though.

Wow that's amazing to be in a mag. Looks like a lovely cosy scarf. I also live in Norfolk but near the coast. Good to know there is a blogstar close by. X

Congratulations on being published!

I like to crochet small decorative pieces. I've just put up my autumnal leaves decoration again. As well as being decorative they're quick to finish which is also a bonus!
