Tiptoe

Do you know what it's like to have something exciting to share but you know that it has to be kept a secret? I have been bursting for weeks to tell you all about my new sock pattern and now I can! Tiptoe has been designed to go with the new Stylecraft Head over Heels yarn range called All Stars. There are 6 colourways in the range, each one designed by one of my fellow Blogstars and chosen by you in a poll earlier this year. Here they all are ...

Want a closer look at the self striping yarns? From left to right we have Pool created by Hand Knitted Things, Splash created by Zooty Owl and Red Pots created by Attic24

And of course you'd like a look at the melange colours  too! From left to right we have Woldgate created by yours truly (so, so proud to be one of the winners), Saltaire created by The Twisted Yarn and Ossie created by Cherry Heart

The colourways were all inspired by the artwork of David Hockney and I blogged more about it here and here. I love the soft, almost chalky look of the colours and want a pair of socks in each colourway! I know, I'm greedy, but they are really lovely. I'm sure you'll see them popping up on my fellow Blogstars' blogs over the coming days. My challenge was to come up with a design that would work with both the self striping and melange colourways and I hope that you'll agree that I have managed to do that. Let me introduce you to Tiptoe.

The pattern features rows of dainty tulips, reminiscent of the bulb fields of The Netherlands. Mr JK and I were lucky enough to visit the gardens at Keukenhof some years ago and were blown away by the beauty and colour of these flowers. I blogged about it here. The pattern is available from Stylecraft yarn stockists and will be downloadable at a later date. I am completely in love with those tiny tulips all standing to attention in their rows...

I couldn't resist showing you these - Flo photobombing the photoshoot!

Stylecraft have very generously given me 5 balls of my colourway, Woldgate, and copies of the Tiptoe pattern leaflet to give away to five lucky people. I'll be running the giveaway on my blog, Facebook and Instagram and you can enter in all three places to give yourself more entries if you want! Leave me a comment and tell me what colours you would like to see put together to create a sock yarn. Please make sure that you make it easy for me to contact you if you're a winner. If I haven't heard from you a week after picking the winners, I will draw again using a random number generator or names in a hat! The giveaway will stay open until midnight on September 30th  and it's open to everyone, as I am happy to post worldwide. so there's lots of time to enter. Good luck and please tell all your sock knitting friends! xxx

I love crisp Autumn days and colours so would love a combination of golden apricot, conker brown, bronze and cream. Lovely socks to keep my feet warm in walking boots. Your yarn colourway is beautiful asis the pattern and I would love a chance to win. My Ravelry name is CathP53 if you need to contact me.

What a lovely stitch pattern. I would love to win the yarn to knit these. My colour choice would be blues, cream and mustard.

Lovely pattern! I would use purple and green for my color choice.

Wow, I am so impressed, Helen. Not only by the beautiful colours, but also the fantastic sock pattern. I'm always in awe of those who can come up with their own designs. Like Catherine, I'm getting in the autumn mode, but I think I'll go more with a Hallowe'en colourway - orange, black and maybe a nice, bloodthirsty red! xx

Oh, I love those tulips! You're an inspiration! All the colorways are lovely, but if I had my fondest wish it would be for a bright aqua, pink, and lime green mix! I'm OhMercy on Ravelry, and I think you can see my email address as well since I'm on G+.

Thanks for running the give-away.
I tend to go for blues and purples but I like seeing combinations I wouldn't automatically pick myself - I really like Splash but if I'd just been told the colours without seeing it I wouldn't have thought that I would. I like Wold too, but it's got purple in so that's less of a surprise to me!

Not sure if it's been done before but peach and purple with a touch of turquoise. They are lovely socks.

I’m such a purple person I’d probably go for different shades of that with maybe skms grey, although I do love your Woldgate, especially as my family have been farmers in the Yorkshire wolds for generations. What a lovely sock pattern too, lovely giveaway.

I'd love to see the colors of a crisp, sunny, autumn day! And this sock pattern is gorgeous.

I always lean towards yarn that has shades of purple & yellow. Love your site and hope your medical issues are being resolved!

I like a combination of magenta, lime green, charcoal and grey, but I've got a ball of sock yarn in those colours already. What we don't seem to see much of are sock yarns in rich autumnal colours; ochre yellow, rusty red, rich brown and greens, maybe with a bit of cream to lighten things up (or light grey).

Oh my goodness, congratulations on having your own yarn! Your colour is my favourite!! I think I would like a yarn with green and purple in it. Thanks for the chance of winning!

The Tiptoe pattern is lovely, it does look like tiny tulips. I especially like it in the colorway that Flo photobombed! I like color combinations of blues and greens, it reminds me of the ocean and the forests here. Take care, I'm thinking of you.

I love your Woldgate combination - exactly encapsulates the lovely picture it was inspired by. I usually wear dark jeans so love to have a surprise flash of colour peeping out. So navy with a flash of pink, yellow nd orange.

Lovely rainbow colours are always beautiful. This new yarn look fabulous. xx

I agree with Angela; I never can resist a rainbow. Then again, autumnal colours with rich oranges, reds and russets are pretty special too ...... That is a gorgeous pattern Helen.

As I knit socks for DH I asked him what colours he would like for his socks, he chose red, amber and green as when we met he said he was dressed like a traffic light!

I am Knellergal in Ravelry.

I think I would choose three colours for wide stripes (I've made such a lot of socks in variegated yarns which give just splashes of colour), so light grey, primrose yellow and cream. Thanks for running this give-away. I'm Melindaj on Ravelry. Best wishes.

Congratulations, both your yarn and pattern are gorgeous! I would love to see navy, peach, coral and grey together. Or navy, mustard and grey. I can't choose! I am KnitKnotWood on Ravelry.

I'd like to mix blue and green together.
