Mr JK and I went out and about yesterday, making the most of the glorious weather. It was so good to see blue skies and sunshine after what has felt like weeks of drabness. We started off visiting the village of Walsingham, famous as a centre of pilgrimage. The grounds of Walsingham Abbey are home to the ruins of a medieval priory, and at this time of year, the 18 acres of woodland are carpeted with snowdrops. Simply stunning. I will let the photos speak for themselves!
Seeing these beautiful, delicate little flowers started me thinking how perfect it would be as a motif for a knitted scarf or shawl. So I asked my 'go to' knitting designer Anne Hanson over at Knitspot if she had a pattern. Of course she did!! A beautiful scarf and cowl pattern, Miss Doolittle, which features the snowdrop lace pattern. I should have known because I have in fact knit this pattern! There's even a mitts pattern to co-ordinate. Here's my version, knit in a rather spring-like yarn.
To celebrate coming of spring, I am offering one lucky person the chance to win a copy of the Miss Doolittle pattern. It is perfect to keep your neck cosy on chilly spring mornings! To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is leave a comment telling me what your favourite thing about spring is, and make sure that you are a follower of my blog. I'll leave the giveaway open until March 1st, the first day of spring! Thanks for taking part and good luck! xxx

That scarf looks lovely and spring-like. My favourite thing about Spring is daffodils. Being able to buy a bunch or three in the shop to brighten up the kitchen windowsill and then seeing them start to shoot up when Jess and I are out and about on our daily walks and seeing where they're going to pop up this year and if they've multiplied.
My favourite thing about spring is the feeling of leaving behind a hard winter and the promise of lovely warm days ahead.
The warmth! Being able to dry laundry outside again!
Beautiful pictures! I love the first wam days of spring and the birds singing!
Hearing the songbirds return is the most cheering thing about spring to me!
Love the pictures of all the flowers. My how I wish spring would get here in the US.
Watching the pigeons crash landing in the tree at the bottom of the garden with their nest building material, and hearing the long coo they make when they are on that nest.
These photos give me hope. All of the greens are just stunning.
My favorite part of spring is kidding and lambing season! Bouncing babies make everything better.
Nothing like flowers and sunshine to put spring in your step after a gloomy winter!
Your scarf is lovely, Helen!
Thanks for taking me along on your hike. Just stunning! Hugs!

What lovely pictures, they so make me dream of spring. My favorite part of spring is seeing more sunshine and the warmth of the sun on your skin.
Helen, the snowdrops are absolutely stunning. Thanks so much for sharing these pictures!
Those snowdrops are amazing. They seem to be abundant this year. Roll on the warmer, lighter days of Spring!
Wow, there's no better sight than a carpet of snowy white snowdrops.spring means lighter nights, birds singing, crocus lining the pathways and Easter! Thanks for the chance to win that lovely pattern, x
For me, it has to be the carpets of snowdrops all around. There are some stunning displays round this way too, just on roadsides!
Love the Miss Doolittle! What a coincidence to bump into you at Holkham! :-) Rosx
Tulips!
Beautiful pattern and lovely snowdrops, it's nice to see some green. My favourite thing about Spring is the constant knowledge that it will be here, and after our current Winter of 78" of snow, I'm just happy to look forward and know that it will be here at some point!
oh i can't get over how green everything is over there!
the snowdrops are gorgeous!

thanks for letting me live vicariously through your green outing!

My favourite part of spring is when the buds start to appear on trees and flowers and of course when the bulbs start poking through!
I have recently started knitting again and this looks like a lovely pattern, thank you for doing this giveaway. x
Gosh that is a real carpet of snowdrops!
