Southwold Summer Wrap Makealong progress

The makealong for my Southwold Summer Wrap is coming towards the end. It's been a lot of fun joining in with the other knitters in the Stylecraft Makealong group on Facebook. I have particularly enjoyed looking at the different colour combinations chosen and how it can totally change the appearance of the shawl. My own version, using Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo and Cotton yarn in Coral, Celery and Blush, has reached the final section and I should finish it over the weekend.

I'm delighted to be able to share some of the finished shawls with you too. I feel a bit like a proud mum seeing how their shawls have turned out!

*** Joanna's shawl ***
Naturals Bamboo & Cotton in Ecru, Seafoam and Surf

*** Jill's shawl ***
Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo & Cotton in Ecru, Seafoam and Aqua

*** Sandra's shawl ***
Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo & Cotton in Buttermilk, Celery and Thyme

*** Anci's shawl ***
Anci used yarn with a similar bamboo and cotton mix that she bought in Sweden.

*** Susan's shawl ***
Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo & Cotton in Seafoam, Ecru and Surf. I love how she changed the order of the colours and it looks quite different to the original.

Although the makealong is coming to a close, you can still buy the pattern from my Ravelry store here  if you'd like to knit your own version. You've only got a few days left to take advantage of the discount code 'summerwrap' which will get you 25% off until the end of July. All proceeds from pattern sales are being donated to my Fibre 4 Fibres fundraising and so far, I've added £410 to the total. Thank you so much if you've already bought a copy and I hope you enjoy knitting and wearing it! xxx

Fibre 4 Fibres Giveaway preview 67

Hello! I'm sitting here writing this blogpost with a fan on, trying desperately to keep cool! I don't think we are ever satisfied with our weather are we? These days, I much prefer it to be cooler - I think it's partly due to some of my medications which make me very sensitive to the sun, so I avoid it as much as possible. I'm knitting on my bamboo and cotton wrap which is perfect for working on while it's so hot and sticky! I'll share progress photos next week.

This week's prize is full of lovely things for you. There is a set of Knit Pro SmartStix Deluxe interchangeable needles. I love Knit Pro needles, they are always my go-to needles for any kind of knitting. There is a beautiful skein of Lucy Locket Land Devonia yarn which has been given anonymously, a gorgeous skein of Chameleon Yarns superwash merino/nylon in the Rainbow Skies colourway which has been donated by an Instagram friend Ruth and a set of Norah George miniskeins which has been donated by another Instagram friend Marja. The lovely folk at Yarndale have donated a tote bag and sheep pin badge, and there is a sachet of Euclan which has been donated anonymously, as well as a gorgeous dragonfly progress keeper which has been donated by Scarlet Stitchcraft. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated prizes.

Fibre 4 Fibres Giveaway preview 66

I am super-excited about this week's prizes. Yes, prizes! There are three prizes to be won on Sunday! The lovely Amanda over at Little Box of Crochet  messaged me to see if I'd like some more prizes, so naturally I said yes! I was thrilled when three Little Box of Crochet boxes were delivered by my postie. I decided to use them as prizes all in one go, so set about to find lots of other treats to go with them. Each prize includes a Little Box of Crochet box, 7 assorted balls of Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK yarn, a set of 6 Milward soft handle crochet hooks, a '20 to crochet' book (Granny squares, mandalas and flowers) and a retractable yarn ball tape measure donated by Groves Ltd. There is also a drawstring project bag with a fun yarn print stitched by me, with a double pocket inside. I'm really chuffed with how they turned out! Thank you so much to those who donated a prize. You can get a little sneaky preview of what's inside each box from the photos that I have used from the LBOC website. These boxes are a real treat; I have subscribed in the past and have loved the boxes that I received. If you've ever thought about trying one, buy some virtual raffle tickets on Sunday and one of them might well end up coming to live with you!

Hot off the needles!

These socks almost knit themselves! There is something incredibly addictive about knitting with patterned sock yarn. I want to keep on knitting just to see the next round of pattern. This pair are for my rheumatology consultant and I hope she will like them. The yarn has been a big hit over on Instagram, with lots of people asking me about it. It's from the Opal Viridian Schafpate range and the colourway is Thelma 7952. They have it in stock at the Wool Warehouse, although stock has dwindled and they currently only have 3 balls left. (There were 16 when I looked last week.) If you're interested in getting a ball, you can find it here. I won this yarn in a recent Instagram giveaway and am always happy to give Opal yarn a home. It's a great sock yarn for every day use, and washes and wears really well. I spotted in the photos that I'd managed to knit a pretty close to matchy-matchy pair, which was quite unintentional and more satisfying for that! High five to me!

If you'd like to find out more about how the Opal yarn is made, I can recommend watching this video. It's fascinating. Now please excuse me while I rummage through my stash for my next pair of socks! xxx

Fibre 4 Fibres Giveaway preview 65

This week's prize is a bundle of luxurious Noro yarns! The prize includes 4 skeins of Kogarashi yarn which is a mix of 51% silk and 49% wool and has been donated by an Instagram friend Etenamakes. There are 2 balls of Silk Garden which is a mix of 45% silk, 45% kid mohair and 10% lamb's wool and 2 balls of Kureyon sock yarn which is a mix of 70% wool and 30% nylon. Each set of yarns is all the same dye lot. If you've not tried Noro yarn, this is your chance! It really is a high-end yarn and this little lot would set you back over £100 if you were to buy it! To go with the yarn, there's a lovely drawstring project bag which has the sweetest embroidered sheep on it and a yarn ball progress keeper. Thank you for your donations.
